Lacrosse

Key Information

At Scottish Student Sport (SSS) we are committed to developing lacrosse in Scotland by staging tournaments and courses where new and experienced players are equally welcomed.

The Lacrosse programme for students in Scotland currently comprises of the BUCS leagues, a Women’s Beginner Tournament and a knockout competition – the Scottish Student Lacrosse Championships.

For teams lucky enough to be in a BUCS League Tier large enough, they have the opportunity to compete in the BUCS Conference and fight to make it to the prestigious Conference Finals Day.

Any student team which does not wish to enter the BUCS league, or which are looking for more competitive outlets, are welcomed by the governing body, Lacrosse Scotland, to join their club leagues. There are lots of opportunities to get involved!

SSS are also passionate about helping student clubs develop to be bigger and better each year. They work with Lacrosse Scotland to form mutual goals which benefit the sport as a whole. This includes hosting officiating and coaching courses for students.

Stay tuned for further updates about our plan for the season ahead!

Meet your Sports Chair

Rachel Davidson

Rachel joined SSS in 2019 as the SS Women’s Lacrosse Chair at the time but is now SS Lacrosse Chair so all Scottish Lacrosse students are under her guidance.

After graduating from the Univesity of Strathclyde in 2019 with a degree in Chemistry, in 2021 she has returned to the University to complete her PGDE so is again based in Glasgow. As a girl from the Highlands of Scotland, she does plan to return to Inverness and set up her own club.

Whilst previously at Strathclyde, Rachel played lacrosse for the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow City Lacrosse Clubs, plus attended many lacrosse events across Scotland and Europe before joining SSS. Who knows, we might see her back in team colours.
