We are privileged to compete at the scottishathletics Inter District Cross Country Championships once again in 2026 as Scottish Student Sport, with the event returning to Alexandra Park, Glasgow.

We will have 15 men’s and 15 women’s student athletes competing on behalf of all Scottish students at the event – please stay tuned as the squads are announced.

The first 12 places on each squad are gained through automatic qualification, as the top 12 placing students at our SS Cross Country Championships in November. The additional 3 spaces providing ‘wildcard’ opportunities for students. Our full selection policy can be found HERE.

We’re excited to host another Scottish Student XC Championship event! There’s more than just medals and club bragging rights to race for – the top 12 male and female finishers will gain automatic qualification into our Scottish Student XC National Squad team.

Scottish Student Cross-Country Championships 2025

Date: Sunday 16^th November

Venue: Craigtoun Country Park, St Andrews, KY16 8NX

Cost: £10 per student

Payment: Invoices will be distributed to Sports Unions on behalf of teams following the entry closing date. Please ensure to make your Sports Union/Captain aware of your entry before the deadline.

Description: A 5km out-and-back beach race along the famous West Sands beach. The event is suitable for runners of all backgrounds and abilities and we will hopefully see some strong competition at the front!

Parking: There is ample parking on the grass along West Sands Road. Please ensure you park courteously and do not block the road for other users.

SSS XC Winter Series: This is the first event part of the SSS XC Winter Series. Enter to get your team off the line and in with a chance to be crowned SSS XC Winter Series Champions!

Eligibility: Students from SSS-affiliated Scottish universities and colleges are eligible to enter as per our Terms and Conditions, as well as a small number of guest entries per event.

Heriot-Watt return with their Round the Grounds 5km – part of our Scottish Student XC Winter Series!

There will be two different events taking place:

5k – 13:30 start (13:15 declarations close)
Kids Fun Run – 12:45 start (12:30 declarations close)

Both events are multi-terrain that will take you down the trail paths around the campus grounds.

Registration and number collection will be at the start line which is situated outside the Grid building from 11:45pm. (The GRID, Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Currie EH14 4AS)

Description: A short course around the scenic grounds of Stirling University, overlooking the Wallace monument!

Parking: There is parking available on campus but please be mindful that charges may apply.

Toilets and Changing Facilities: Limited toilets available in the Airthery Pavilion, with extra available a 10 minute walk away inside the University of Stirling Sport building. Limited changing facilities available, however, we recommend arriving in kit and ready to race.

More information will be available following the entries opening.

SSS XC Winter Series: This is the second event part of the SSS XC Winter Series. Enter to gain points for your team and be in with a chance to be crowned SSS XC Winter Series Champions!
