Swimming

Key Information

Our Swimming programme has a league competition and Championships. We have two men’s and women’s leagues catering for both performance athletes and students looking to develop in the sport.

All of the leagues are set-up so that teams play their opponents home and away on Wednesday afternoons. The Championships take place in November at the end of the short course season.

Laura Shaw

University of Stirling Sports Union President Laura has a strong background in the sport, having competed internationally for the Turks and Caicos Islands in the past.

Since arriving in Stirling Laura was involved in the Swimming Club’s committee as Fundraiser, Secretary and, in her fourth year, President.

Why Volunteer?

“I volunteer with SSS because I want to give back to the community that was a defining part of my student experience. Sport/swimming played a huge part in my time as a student and helped me balance the workload that comes with being a university student.

“In my final two years on committee at Stirling, my role was to organise and deliver our SSS swimming matches, as I started to take a step back from swimming myself, I started to enjoy the planning/delivery more. I really enjoyed this and knew I wanted to get more involved in my sabbatical term. If I knew more about the roles when I was a student I would’ve joined earlier!”
