Shinty 6s Festival

We’re excited to invite teams to the first Shinty event of the year!

 

This 6s festival aims at introducing new members to the sport. We’re heading to Strathclyde pitches (Stepps) on Saturday 4th October.

A playing schedule will be released on the week of the event but we ask that all teams arrive at 0930 to begin a warm-up.

Eligibility: Mixed-ability teams from SSS-affiliated Scottish universities and colleges are eligible to enter as per our Terms and Conditions. Teams should be an even mix of experience and inexperienced players, and a maximum of 8 (6 players and 2 subs)

  • An ‘experienced’ player is someone who has played shinty (for a club or student club) for more than 2 years
  • An ‘inexperienced player’ is someone who has played shinty for less than 2 years

Date: Saturday 4th October 2025
Venue: Stepps, Strathclyde
Cost: £45 per team

Entry deadline: 23:59 on 25th September
Entries: One person should enter the team on Playwaze as captain. All other players should ‘join’ the team so their names appear on the team list. All players entering the event must be registered students and listed as a player on the SSS Playwaze tournament page. Please click HERE for a ‘How To’ Guide for how to use the SSS Playwaze system

Payment: Invoices will be distributed to Sports Unions on behalf of teams following the entry closing date.

Pre-event information – PLEASE READ: 

  • Squads should be a maximum of 8 (6 and 2 subs) and mixed ability
  • The tournament draw will be released 5 days before the event
  • Please note that the Shinty Chair may require additional goals and will be in touch to ask for your assistance with this
  • The event will take place on grass football pitches, so please bring appropriate footwear
  • Please note that all clubs will be asked to name a referee per team entered to help referee the matches
  • HELMETS – All players should wear a helmet if at all possible. Helmets worn should be compliant to the guidance provide by the Camanachd Association found HERE. If you plan to wear a non-compliant helmet, you will need to print, sign and scan a waiver to roddy.young@shinty.com in advance of the event
